Did you know United Minds is a not-for-profit charity? Our low-cost psychology clinic helps fund vital support services for our clients and the local community. We provide eligible clients with access to foodbank items, food hampers, material and financial aid, and no cost and low-cost counselling services.

To help cover any increases in operating expenses and to cover demand for our charity service, we usually apply a small increase to our fees at the beginning of every financial year (July). This increase occurs at the same time the Federal Government increases the Medicare rebate amount.  This means while our fee increases, the amount you get back from Medicare will also increase which minimises your out-of-pocket expenses.

During covid, we have experienced a significant need for our charity support.  We also had a high increase in operating expenses (i.e annual rent increases, utility increases).  This means that this year we need to increase our fees slightly higher than we had hoped for.

Currently, eligible clients claim between 60% and 70% of our fees back from Medicare.  With our fee increase, clients will still be able to claim more than half our fees back from Medicare, but this will drop slightly, and eligible clients may claim between 54% and 62% of the fees paid for our service from Medicare*

Our new fees effective July 1st, 2021 will be as follows:

Psychological Assessment

  • $195 per hour

General Psychologist

  • Full Fee Paying: $170

  • Concession: $142

Clinical Psychologist

  • Full fee paying: $195

  • Concession: $170

We cannot confirm exactly how much you will be out of pocket at this stage until the Federal Government announces the Medicare rebate increases.  In the past, the rebate has increased between $1 and $3. Given the current climate in mental health, we are hopeful the Federal Government is a little more generous this year so people can continue to access affordable psychological support. Once we know what this increase amount is, we will communicate this with you so you know how much you will be out of pocket.

* Depending on fees charged and eligibility

** Please note, there is a 1.5% credit card surcharge on top of the above fees

*** This will NOT apply to those who are bulk billed. If you are bulk billed, you will continue to be bulk billed.  This does not apply to other funding bodies such as NDIS, TAC and Workcover
